it's one of 20 stories from an entry pool of 200 that have been selected as representing the best in south african short story writing from 1994 to 2014.

i'm very pleased to have been selected.

reading at uct on may 9th

a few things have happened

i finished writing my novel, now titled 'The Reactive', on the 1st of September 2013.

since then, i've been offered a publishing contract by Umuzi, an imprint of Random House Struik [now under Penguin Random House].

i've signed the contract.

i feel pleased to be joining a roster that includes some of my favourite South African authors.

my novel will appear later this year.

i'm looking forward to providing you with more details about the book.

i'm hoping that, in what i've managed to do, it will introduce something 'new' or even 'unprecedented' in the South African literary landscape.

a decade ago, i published my first short story.

i feel like i've spent a lot of the time in between thinking about writing.

now i'm signed to a major.

i feel like i can put 'writer' in my 'twitter bio', now, or something.
